This painting is inspired by McAleer's Pub, a beloved institution on the Upper West Side established in 1953 by John and Frank McAleer, first cousins from Northern Ireland. McAleer's has maintained its integrity as a local Irish pub while adapting to changing consumer tastes, offering great food and conversation alongside a wide selection of draught beers. The pub gained fame for being featured in the TV series NYPD Blue and was once named one of the top ten places to meet people in New York by the New York Post. “Mr. Aleer’s Pub” lets you bring home the character of a traditional New York corner bar—one that’s proudly stood the test of time—while celebrating a piece of local lore brimming with warmth and cheer.
